It's shameful on many levels that Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin may now face a recall election (the Dems and their union thug backers will still have to gather approximately 500,000 signatures). Walker won the 2010 election fairly, and by a large margin. He's done precisely what he said he would do in that free and fair election -- balanced the budget and tamed the state public employee unions. Public schools are open and teaching, without any of the horror stories the unions and their Democratic Party minions claimed would occur. Property taxes are decreasing, providing a welcome respite to Wisconsin taxpayers in this otherwise over-taxed state. If we now are going to have permanent elections, when exactly do we expect our elected leaders to do the work of governing? The Democrats are basically enshrining being sore losers as their party platform. It's bad for the very concept of representative democracy.
But the most shameful thing so far is this story about how recall supporters paraded to Walker's home, where he lives in Wauwatosa (my home town) with his wife and two teenaged sons. What is the purpose of this other than intimidation? As a Mafia thug would say, "We know where you live." Or, to be fair, as I recall from watching The Godfather, even the Mafia generally had an ethos that held that women and children were out of bounds. So the Dems and their union enforcers are even worse than the mob. Who'd a thunk it?
Most ominous note was this:
Protesters carried signs such as one that read "Occupy Walker's Street" in all capital letters.The Democratic Party leaders ought to be asked immediately and loudly to renounce this kind of personal targeting of political opponents' families.
